French Connection

A concert featuring works unified by their connection to France and the influence of French music. The most evident association is in the two works by French composer Dominique Lemaitre, a composer whose music Hard Rain began to discover in last season’s programme.

Nieuwe Noten
COMING SOON

The first of two 'Nieuwe Noten' concerts. HRSE presents a concert of works showcasing some of the range of music being composed in Ireland today. Almost all the works have been written especially for the ensemble’s players and so this is a very personal Hard Rain ‘postcard’ of Irish music.

This exciting project brings together three works celebrating poetry and music. We pay tribute to English composer Harrison Birtwistle who passed away in April 2022.  Birtwistle is best known for his opera output, but this more intimate song cycle on texts by Rilke demonstrates his capacity to create truly beautiful chamber music.
