The explanations and information provided on this page are only general and high-level explanations and information on how to write your own document of Terms & Conditions. You should not rely on this article as legal advice or as recommendations regarding what you should actually do, because we cannot know in advance what are the specific terms you wish to establish between your business and your customers and visitors. We recommend that you seek legal advice to help you understand and to assist you in the creation of your own Terms & Conditions.
Terms & Conditions - The Basics
Having said that, Terms and Conditions (“T&C”) are a set of legally binding terms defined by you, as the owner of this website. The T&C set forth the legal boundaries governing the activities of the website visitors, or your customers, while they visit or engage with this website. The T&C are meant to establish the legal relationship between the site visitors and you as the website owner.
T&C should be defined according to the specific needs and nature of each website. For example, a website offering products to customers in e-commerce transactions requires T&C that are different from the T&C of a website only providing information (like a blog, a landing page, and so on).
T&C provide you as the website owner the ability to protect yourself from potential legal exposure, but this may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so make sure to receive local legal advice if you are trying to protect yourself from legal exposure.
What to Include in the T&C Document
Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.

Laoise Corrigan
Flautist Laoise Corrigan is a second-year undergraduate studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Laoise grew up in Belfast and has performed as part of the Ulster Youth Orchestra in August 2022 and 2024. Upon receiving a scholarship to study at Guildhall, Laoise has enjoyed exploring the music scene in London. This year they have formed a flute and harp duo, performing publicly in Guildhall harp recitals. They are also a member of the newly formed ‘Silva Flute Quartet’ who gave their first public recital in St James Church, Sussex Gardens in June 2024. Laoise is extremely interested in contemporary music and has performed alongside Ensemble Modern as part of the New Music Dublin festival 2023 and as a guest with ‘Outside the Line Contemporary Collective’. Aside from flute playing they are an aspiring composer and was awarded second place in the prestigious UK-wide, Music First composition competition judged by Judith Weir in 2021, subsequently featuring on the radio program ‘Classical Connections’. Laoise is an advocate for the role of music in society and enjoys volunteering with RiChmusicni, a local organisation that uses music to work with children with learning disabilities.

Orla McGarity
Orla McGarrity is an Irish violinist based in Manchester where she graduated from the RNCM with a First-Class Honours Degree, studying with James Clark. She is currently pursuing a Masters under the tutelage of Cecily Ward and Pavel Fisher, also at the RNCM and has performed in masterclasses for Arabella Steinbacher, Nathaniel Vallois and Vera Vaidman. Recent highlights include playing works inspired by climate change at the Wigmore Hall with the RNCM Sinfonietta and performing with her quartet in Manchester International Festival as a support act for Anna Meredith. A keen chamber musician, Orla is a member of the Talland Quartet who have won multiple prizes at the RNCM and were chosen to be one of four groups on the 23/24 Hans Keller Forum in Cambridge. Orla's love for curating chamber events led her to working as the Programming Assistant at the RNCM in 2022/23 and co-directing Enys Chamber Music Festival in Cornwall. She also enjoyed interning at Weesp Chamber Music Festival in the Netherlands and working as an ad hoc chamber music tutor at RNCM's Junior Department. Orla recently set up the Mourne Chamber Music Festival in Newcastle County Down which she plans to continue for years to come. Having completed the Ulster Orchestra Professional Experience Scheme in 2022 and having been a member of Ulster Youth Orchestra as a teenager, Orla is excited to be part of the NI Opera orchestra in September. She plays on a 1595 Antonio and Heironymous Amati violin generously loaned to her by the RNCM and is grateful to be supported by Help Musicians and The Lord and Lady Lurgan Trust.
